Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger will receive different platforms

Concern Chrysler Group plans to replace one-platform sedans Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger with two new models which will be constructed on different chassis.

As informs Automotive News referring to own sources, the similar step is a plan part on disposal of lineup Chrysler of "twins" among various brands. The definitive statement is planned for August of this year.

Under the preliminary information, replacement to front-wheel sedan Dodge Avenger will be constructed on a platform of model Challenger with a drive only on a back axis and with is longitudinal the located engine which in turn uses slightly modernised chassis of cars Chrysler 300С and Dodge Charger. Sedan Chrysler Sebring of following generation remains front-wheel, however will receive platform D-Evo which debuts for the first time in the spring of next year on Alfa Romeo Milano. Now models Sebring and Avenger are constructed on the global platform developed together with Mitsubishi.

Concern Chrysler plans to make present generation Sebring and Avenger till the end of next year when the enterprise in Michigan on which these cars are issued will be closed. We will notice, that by 2013 the American motor-car manufacturer plans to reduce number of models with 27 (in 2007) to 20.
